Cementitious Pump Screed to 2500 Sq Meters in Northampton.
PSC were contacted to give flooring advice to a property company who were renovating a dilapidated industrial building.
The existing floor was in a extreme state is disrepair. The floor surface was severely worn, with large holes and cracks and damaged joints throughout the floor. There were also areas of deep oil contamination. The property company did not want the hastle of digging up and removing the old concrete but required a new, flat floor surface at the most economical cost.
PSC advised that a nominal 10mm cementitious pump screed, followed by two coats of high build epoxy resin was the best option. The total area of 2500sq mtrs was prepared and cleaned using the shotblasting machine and diamond grinders and floor scarifiers.
All damaged concrete, holes, cracks and joints were extensively repaired using epoxy mortar compound. In localised areas of oil contamination, a special oil binding primer was laid to neutralise the oil.
Two coats of Damp Proof Membrane were laid as the building had a severe damp problem. A nominal 10mm heavy duty cementitious pump screed was laid to the total area, providing the client with a strong, durable new flat floor. The final stage was to lay two coats of high build epoxy resin to total area.
The total contract took three weeks and the new floor totally enhanced the building which the property company were looking for. They were delighted that they had a fully refurbished floor, that was not only attractive but heavy duty and long lasting, designed for heavy industry, therefore improving the saleability of the property.
