Drapers Bakery in Tewkesbury had purchased an engineering factory and contacted Protective Surface Coatings Ltd about the floor for their new 600 sq mtr production facility. The existing floor was very dirty, worn and old and Drapers Bakery wanted a new resin floor that was hard wearing, slip resistant, seamless, easy to clean and could meet the high food hygiene standards.
Protective Surface Coatings Ltd proposed a 6mm Resdev Pumadur RT, heavy duty polyurethane screed.
The old floor was firstly shotblasted and diamond grinded clean, to remove all the dirt. All toe in channels around the perimeter, drains and doorways were carried out, then extensive repairs were carried out to repair damaged concrete, holes and expansion joints. Once fully vacuumed clean of all debris a coat of epoxy primer was laid, followed by the 6mm heavy duty screed in a buff colour. Finally once the screed was laid, all expansion joints were mirrored through and infilled with matching jointing compound.
The total project took 7 days to complete, was on time and on budget and provided the food factory with a very hard wearing floor, that provided excellent slip resistance in the wet. The resin screed is seamless and easy to clean and the perfect floor for the food industry.
